Hometown: Milford, NH
August 16, 2009
I hike about 70 times a year, some short, some long, mostly smaller mountains near So. NH, I'd say moderate. I lead short hikes around my hometown for people I work with.
Both the same: Hiking The Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway Trail last year with my brother. Day 1-leisurely 13 miles, Day 2 -21 miles because of the threat of rain to reach Washington Shelter, Day 3-19 miles in the POURING rain. Great trip though!
Starting to winter hike, have done some Southern NH mountains Kearsarge South, Crotched, Skatutakee, thumb. Would love to do more winter stuff this year. Have equipment for most seasons and situations, not an expert at using it all by any means.
My younger brother passed away from cancer. In his memory I now yearly hike 1 different mountain for each year he would have been alive, for 2009 the number is 39.
Summer-just about any day, Fall to Spring just weeekends. I love early starts.
Most of my friends don't understand the idea of climbing a mountain for enjoyment, plus it looks like there are some great trips with this group.
