I rate myself as an intermediate hiker who travels at a moderate pace (slower than AMC booktime). Some of my hikes in recent years have included the NH Tripyramids, Mt Crawford, and Camel's Hump in VT. I often hike solo. I have not yet organized or led a group hike.
The dense woods suddenly opened to a view of a distant mountain pass across the valley far below. I watched gray clouds pass swiftly through the pass straight towards us until we were enveloped with a foggy mist. Beautiful visual memory! The greatest challenge I recall was when my hiking partner fell over a cascade and I had to get down to him quickly over a treacherously slippery trail and rocks.
I usually hike in Fall and Summer. I'd like to try some Spring hiking and also am hoping to venture out on winter trails this year. I own a tent, backpack, hiking poles, crampons, headlamp, sleeping bag & mat. Although I do not own them, I know how to use a water filter pump, a portable camp-stove, and snowshoes.
My goal is to enjoy the journey while hiking.
Any day is a great day to hike!! However, I am generally not free to hike on Saturdays.
I enjoy hiking and am looking forward to joining and rejoining other members on the trails in the White Mountains and elsewhere. My home is in Maine.
