I only started a couple years ago but I've done a lot of hiking in that time, including 25 of the NH 4K's (in all seasons). I'd say I'm a moderate hiker. My hardest hike was the boulder scrambling up Cathedral Trail on Mt Katahdin. Since I do a lot of solo hiking, I have organized many solo hikes, but not so many group hikes. I've organized a few hikes of ~3-5 people and this past 9/11. I was the peak coordinator for North Kinsman's Flags on the 48.
I'd have to say my favorite adventure was also my greatest challenge...4 days of hiking at Baxter State Park, including 2 day hikes on Katahdin and 3 nights at Chimney Pond Campground. Lots of fun with a great friend but quite challenging for me. I do believe my favorite trail adventure experience is still yet to come though. :)
Yes, I hike in all seasons. I own (and know how to use) all the gear I need in order to do the hiking I wish to do (and survive a night or 2 in the wilderness if it came to that). In winter, I draw the line at trails so icy and steep that I would require an ice axe. In summer, I draw the line at high/dangerous water crossings after a heavy rain.
I'm working toward the NE 100 Highest but mostly focusing on the NH4K's right now. I'm also working on the 52 With a View if I want a smaller hike or wish to include one of those during a 4K hike if it's nearby. The Terrifying 25, highpointing, Views & Brews, and Tower Quest also interest me too. I'll hike just about any mountain but if it's on a list, that's even better.
I like to hike any day of the week but I'm mostly available on the weekends. I'm also up for a sunset or a night hike during the week if it's within an hour's drive from home (Milford, NH).
Hi. I'm looking to do some hiking and backpacking with some groups, especially in NH's beautiful White Mountains.
