New England Lync User Group - An afternoon talking Lync 2013

The New England Lync User Group will be conducting its next meeting on January 22nd, 2013 at the Microsoft Boston Store! This meeting will introduce everyone to Lync Server 2013. With all of the new features in Lync 2013, we will have plenty to talk about at this meeting.

In addition to discussing Lync 2013, we will also have a special presentation on Unified Communication.  The switch from legacy telephony to unified communications is a high hurdle for many enterprises, and changing the way workers conduct meetings from in physical locations to online is an even steeper learning curve. Learn how to lay the groundwork for increased user satisfaction, improved productivity.

The presentation was well done & very informative. We are in Phase 1 pilot of our Lync 2010 implementation moving toward voice later this year. Alex's real world examples and expertise (ex. transferring DIDs, Hybrid solutions) were very helpful to those of us in the process of moving to Lync as our voice and collaboration solution.
The Lync product demos were also very helpful (Lync 2013 mobile client on a device). I sent my boss a link to a Calisto 620-M USB speakerphone this morning with a suggestion that we get one for testing in our conference rooms and for demonstrations during training with our mobile Sales Team. The suggestion to include Media Gateway, SBC & load balancing suppliers in future meetings was a great one.
This was my first Lync Meetup. While I liked the idea of having the meeting in a Microsoft Store, the venue was noisy and not conducive to conversation. I found the meeting to be very beneficial and look forward to future meetings with the group.

      Nancy,
Just a tip. Do not spend much on testing units. There are a lot of companies that are willing to get you a free sample to try and get your business. I personally sent about 25 free Calisto units out late last year as free samples/seed units to my existing customers.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
