Kelora Hearing Update-Motion for Summary Judgment GRANTED-With Order

Many of us have been following with some concern the legal case against ecommerce companies, including those using Magento for a platform.  We're sharing below an email just received from the folks at Magento who have been fighting this on our behalf.  From the Magento legal team:

Dear Magento customer,

Since our last update on the Kelora case in December, there has been an important milestone that we wanted to share with you.

On May 21, 2012, a federal court issued the attached order invalidating Kelora's patent claims.

This is the outcome that the team here at Magento, and eBay Inc., has been working toward for several years. We are very pleased with the ruling, which helps protect our valued customers from this threat. And though Kelora does have the right to appeal, they are currently unable to enforce their claims against any web site.

Should you receive any communication from Kelora seeking payment for a license to its patent, please forward a copy to us so that we can respond appropriately. And, please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any additional questions.

Best regards,
