NENUG Meeting Wednesday 04/30/14 at 6pm

On Wednesday 04/30/14, our meeting will focus on Netezza 7.1, Modeling and Design for Netezza, and Metadata Driven ETL – a flavor implemented in Netezza. We want to thank all speakers, officers, and members who have made this group a success! 04/30/14 6PM-8:15PM IBM Client Center- Room 2217, 1 Rogers Street, Cambridge, MA

Meeting Agenda

6:00 PM – 6:30 PM Networking and Refreshments

6:30 PM – 7:15 PM Netezza 7.1- Release Features and Upgrades- Jeff Carlson, Technical Sales Manager, Big Data- IBM Jeff will present a detailed description of the Netezza 7.1 release features and upgrades, including customer stories. 7:15 PM – 7:45 PM Metadata Driven ETL – a flavor implemented in Netezza- Charlene Liang, VP of Analytics and Optimization, IQ Associates/NES Would you like to process a new set of data without changing the ETL code, even with different data structures? Metadata driven ETL is one of the directions data warehousing technology is heading. We will show a successful practice that uses metadata to minimize data transformation development resources. 7:45 PM – 8:15 PM Modeling and Design for Netezza - Biju Nair, Software Engineer With its AMPP architecture and specialized hardware, Netezza can process high volume of data at a speed previously unimaginable. Many installations see their processing time drop drastically when they move to Netezza as is without any changes. So is modeling and design relevant for such a specialized appliance? We will try to identify that during this presentation.

About our Speakers:
Jeff Carlson has been with Netezza since 2006, and IBM since the acquisition in 2011. He has assumed a multitude of roles and responsibilities including pre-sales, creating and conducting training programs, database design and administration, hardware support, and scripting in multiple languages. He has been hands on with strong system support experience on various platforms and database systems.

Biju Nair is a software engineer focused on developing high performance and scalable systems. He has worked on delivering large enterprise applications and software products on multiple platforms. His interest includes operating systems, distributed systems and DBMS.

Charlene Liang is a seasoned expert in computer simulation/modeling and data analysis with over fifteen years of industry leadership. She has broad experience in Data Warehousing, Data Integration and Analytics, and holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University in Chemistry and Physics. Please RSVP to Kerry Parker at [masked]. Be sure to include your full name and company name for registration.
