The New England Over 40 Hiking Group is for hikers who haven't given up on their overwhelming love of hiking in the mountains, despite their age. This is a group with trip leaders who know the difference between a 4 mph and 1 mph trek across the mountains.Our goal is to make hiking fun again for those of us that have reached a new stage in our lives and want to enjoy the comraderie of hikers who have similar skills and desires.So, join this group if you are over age 40 and are looking for something to do other than needlepoint or sitting in a rocking chair. We can have fun getting in shape, again!Come join the team and have some exciting times and adventures!
Rising roughly 1,000 feet in elevation, the Mt. Holyoke Range runs east to west offering fine views of the Connecticut River and the Pioneer Valley. We'll meet at the Notch Visitor’s Center on Rte. 116 in Amherst, Mass. Our day begins with a steep ascent to the summit of Bare Mountain. We’ll follow the Monadnock-Metacomet Trail along a ridge line crossing the “ Seven Sisters”, a series of small peaks. Read more
