This is a group for young professional women (25-35) who, like me, may have recently moved (or moved back) to this area. This is a group for those hoping to meet new friends and build a network of people. So far we have gotten together to do things like meet for coffee, hold book clubs, go wine tasting, go line dancing, go mini-golfing, go to comedy shows, go out to dinner with our significant others, go to Halloween events, do crafts together, go to brunch, go to karaoke, go fruit picking, go to festivals, go on walks, do yoga and more!
What makes this meetup group different?
Unlike many other groups, when you go to consecutive events, you will see some of the same women, allowing you to build friendships and become part of a community over time.
I created this group because I haven't been unable to find another group of this kind to join.
This is a small group, capped at about 50, in order to build a community and help us get to know each other. Therefore, there is space for only a limited number of new members. We look for women who express a strong interest in becoming active members of a community.
So, if you want to go to a meetup once a year, this may not be the group for you.
However, if you want to be an active member of a social community of down-to-earth, supportive female friends, this is the group for you!
MEMBERSHIP POLICY
In order to keep our community cohesive:
-NEW members must attend an event in their first month of membership
-Members who have already attended an event have 2 months to attend another event
-Members who cannot meet this policy but have a compelling reason will be considered for an exception.
-Members who do not attend an event but do take the time RSVP "no"regularly will have an additional month (2 months total for new members, 3 months total for members who have already attended an event) to attend an event.
-Also, if you RSVP to an event, and then have to cancel, that is fine. However, if you RSVP but do not show up without canceling first (on the web site, by phone or email), you are out of the group. This too is necessary to ensure that members are serious about participating in the group.
-If a member cannot cancel before an event, but has a compelling reason for not attending at the last minute (i.e. an emergency or broken down car) that member will be allowed to remain part of the group.
-Members also must follow rsvp deadlines (specified in event descriptions) to cancel their attendance at an event with "PRIORITY COMMITMENT" in the title. These are events that require advance preparation and are negatively affected by last-minute cancellations.
-We will be admitting new members on or about the 15th and 30th of each month. On these dates, we will determine which members have not met the membership policy and letting new members in to replace them. This is so that we can maintain a small group size.
If you are very interested in this group, you may want to send us an email to let us know, as we have had a lot of interest.
