360 Movie: The Princess Bride

  • March 8, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • 360 Screening Room

I've reserved the Screening room at 360 State Street for another Movie Night!  You can see a film for free at this time and location.  NO "maybe" RSVP's.

I will need  FULL NAMES (and that of any +1) for the Concierge to let in. Please Provide as asked when you RSVP. (You can also Event Comment, Email, or Text me.)

If you have any questions, PLEASE see the 360 Movie Nights FAQ posted on the message board and linked here.  Many of them (snacks, No Show Policy, ect.) are discussed there.

Seats are Limited, so please only RSVP if you're going to come, and change accordingly if something comes up.

This Events Film Is...

The Princess Bride

(1987 - Adventure / Comedy - 98 minutes - Rated PG)

IMDB Description: A classic fairy tale, with swordplay, giants, an evil prince, a beautiful princess, and yes, some kissing (as read by a kindly grandfather).

Staring: Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Robin Wright

Also Has: Andre the Giant, Wallace Shawn, Billy Crystal, Fred Savage, Peter Falk

AJ's Comments:  Alright, alright, enough Arm Twisting.  By popular demand I will show The Princess Bride in the screening room.  (I rarely show one by suggestion alone, but this one has only been asked for about a billion times, so as you wish... and I like it myself, Now THAT is a noble cause. :-P)  For those of you whom are not familiar, this film is part fairy tale, part comedy, part adventure, part romance, part family.  Some would even say a Cult Classic now.

Rotten Tomatoes certifies fresh at 96%, Roger Ebert gave 3.5 Stars.

Event start time is 7:00 for the social portion, so you can start showing up then but please no earlier. We will not start the film until 7:30 or shortly there after, but don't plan to be any later.  (There are now restrictions on room time.)

Feel free to use the waiting list. If someone else backs out you can be automatically added, just provide your full name for the concierge as a contingency.  (I recommend RSVPing individually rather than using +1's if wait-listing.)

It was a very lovely evening with movies with you all and checking out the band. :) Thank you AJ for being an awesome host. Some of you asked if I was going to St. Patrick's day parade. I decided last minute I am, (it's my 1st time & practicing photography!), if you would like to join, The Great Times Social Group posted the event to meet at Dunn's Pub in Hamden before & after ($10 includes a full brunch, and a bus ride to & from) or to meet along the parade route. Details & rsvp for pub reservation at: http://www.meetup.com/Great-Times-Social-Group/events/100918442

My date and back up date cancelled on me. I don't want to drive by myself so both of my slots are free hope some one takes them. Dirty for late cancel.

Not a big deal this time, there were some folks filling last minute spots.

Sorry, I didn't realize a slot opened up until I just checked. RSVP is currently closed, but I see one spot is opened. Is there room for one more person? I keep hearing references to this movie and quite a few people tell me I should see it. :)

is there decent, free parking? i realize this is new haven, so probably not. just thought i'd ask

    March 8, 2013

    • AJ

Closest Free parking I know about is Yale Lot 51, across the green on Temple Street (between Wall Street and Elm Street.). There are a few restaurants or private lots in the area that people some times park in counting on them not to police it at night, but I can't guarantee that.
Also - if you shop at the Elm City Market, they will validate a small portion of time. (Would not cover the entire night, but might get you a partial discount.)

Have to attend a memorial for first cousin in NY (suddenly). Sorry to miss this.

To cut off questions I feel brewing: as of right now, I still plan on holding this meetup. N.O.A.A. predicts the snow will stop here or significantly slow by 4 pm. Be wary of the parking situation, and travel safely. Please update your RSVP if you have decided not to come, as we do have a waiting list.
    Thanks.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
