Bethany Music and Dance (BMAD) parties are held once a month on a Friday night, beginning at 7:30 PM (please do not arrive before 7:30 PM).

The purpose of BMAD is to provide a safe place for people to gather in the love of
traditional music and dance.
Respectful and sober behavior are critical to the continued joy and pleasure of these gatherings.
Please respect the house, the grounds, the neighbors, and the neighborhood,
as well as other people attending BMAD.
If you're interested in merely partying and are not interested in sharing the love and enjoyment of traditional music and dance, then this is not the event for you.

Contrary to popular opinion, BMAD is not held on the same Friday each month but is planned around the schedules of the occupants of 312 Litchfield Tpke. The date of each month's party will be posted on this web site and on Bill's web site approximately two weeks in advance.

There is a lot of music and dance happening at each party, but you do not need to be able to play an instrument or sing or dance.

Bring a dessert or beverage to shareIt is potluck dessert or beverage. We'll provide the silverware, dishes, napkins, etc.

The music parties are acoustic; please leave your amplifiers at home. For the benefit of others who attend, please apply fragrances lightly. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the house. Thanks for your cooperation.

The event is at: 312 Litchfield Tpke, in a big brown converted barn set close to the road. Theere are 2 driveways. One driveway has a purple mailbox with 312 on it and leads down and back a ways to a larger parking area, although from the road it won't appear to be that large. The other, with no mailbox, leads to a smaller, paved parking area. If there's not enough room, you can park on either side of the road.  Just be sure that neither wheel extends over the white line onto the road.
Parking: Please be considerate of our neighbors when you arrive or leave the party. Be quiet on your way to or from your cars and don't throw trash along the side of the road.
Please carpool as much as possible, as parking may be even more limited than usual, due to all the cool kids in attendance.

Note from Eric:

I'll likely arrive around 9 & leave around midnight. Beer/wine/cider/mixed drinks help loosen limbs up (and all are brought by the attendees, so BYOB & be respectful that it's a family-friendly event), but water is a better idea; I recommend bringing a cheap water bottle (in case it's lost in the shuffle), a handkerchief for perspiration control, and wearing shorts/kilts/skirts/dresses/loose & comfy clothes with closed-toe shoes! There are places to stash your "stuff" but it might be prudent to leave purses, machetes, etc in your car.

My phone number:[masked]; texting ok! Voice calls may be hard to hear once at the venue, so please keep that in mind!

I may be in the picture, but it's hard to see!

Eric, was that you in the costume with the tall hat? How was the dancing? Left before it started.

Yes, I was Beaker from the "Muppet Show" ... a Jim Henson tv show from the late 70's-early 80's.

Tonight's BMAD conflicts with the Wesleyan contra dance ... this has happened before. Expect some folk will be arriving after the dance ends.

If you need a ride and live within a reasonable distance along my route from East Haven Town Hall and Bethany, by way of East Rock, please send me a personal message by clicking on my member name. If you prefer to meet at a Park & Ride and carpool, I'll consider that too, as a courtesy, however please note that afterward, we've been going to Elm Bar to decompress... :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
