Mandala Art

Create mandala drawings using visualization techniques for creative inspiration! Excellent drawing skills are not necessary but an open mind and sense of mystery are mandatory.

Draw upon symbolism from the personal unconscious, and learn about the work of psychologist Carl Jung who illuminated symbols found in the collective unconscious and used mandala-making as a type of art therapy.

Focusing on the transformative aspect of mandala, students can set intention for their own life purpose, explore the greater meaning of existence and/or cultural identity. Environmental themes and our relationship to the Earth are also possibilities.

Artistic techniques such as shading and color blending will be taught, but students are highly encouraged to explore mandala through a personal approach if desired.

Three-class series: $10 ... Class meets on March 15, 22 & 29 from 1:30-3:30.

Students must bring their own sketching paper or pad and pencil with eraser.

I'm looking forward to this class tomorrow. See everyone at 1:30. Please bring pencils and some sketching paper. Eventually the final mandala will be on black paper with colored pencil but the library has these materials. We'll be using some meditation and visualization techniques as well to get ideas for our drawings!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
