First Meeting: The Draco Tavern

Our first book will be the Draco Tavern, a book of short stories by Larry Niven.  It should be a lot of fun, and a quick read (it's only about 300 pages).

We'll run our first meeting in "reverse" order, so anyone who is interested in being a part of the group can come, and we can introduce ourselves and talk about some books and genres that we'd like to read.  Then those of us who have read the book can stick around and discuss it--so please plan on coming even if you don't get a chance to read the book.

We'll be meeting in the Undercroft (in the basement) of the Christ Church.  This will just be our location for the first meeting, so come with ideas of where we could meet for a more permanent location!

I had a great time discussing the book and possibilities for next time. I'm bummed I missed post book club drinks and I would vote for a venue that serves drinks for our next meeting. Unfortunately most bars get crowded on a Thursday but maybe not at 7.

I was thinking about the Woodbridge library/center. I'm pretty sure they have rooms available. At the moment, I do not know their pricing and time constraints. Would that distance be an issue for anyone?

The Woodbridge is kind of far and closes at 8pm. I feel like that wouldn't be the greatest of options.

After hours drinks..wish I was there too! So bummed I'm hearing about this now. Hopefully I'll be able to make next month, even if I'm late.

Really enjoyed the group, can't wait until next month. Although I wished I didn't take off right away with this talk of home made ginger ale.

This was a great meeting. We discussed the book on it's merits as well as how it related to personal preference, reading experience and human nature! I am looking forward to our next read and the next conversation with fellow enthusiasts :)

Are we still looking for a location? Koffee on Auduban may be a decent place in the East Rock area.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
