Small Craft Symposium

Small Craft Symposium Thought your group might be interested in this 3rd Annual Southern Connecticut Small Craft Symposium To be held June 14th at Lighthouse Point Park 2 Lighthouse point Rd New Haven, Connecticut 06512 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5. The purpose of the event is to have fun while promoting maritime and skills, and awareness of environmental issues that affect our waterways. The event will be focusing on the manual powered vessels and the conditions and equipment that affect their safety on the water. There will be something for everyone, paddler and non paddler alike, at all skill levels from beginner who is just thinking about getting into the sport to the seasoned paddler with many years of experience. There will be informative presentation on boats, equipment, and the skills needed to venture out on the water and return safely. The on water demonstrations will be for both kayaks and canoe maneuvering and recovery skills including a rolling demonstration. The displays will have informative information from various organizations. Lighthouse tours, nature tours or tries out kayaking with a kayak tour. The USCGA will be holding a flare demonstration , for those of you that have old expired flare please bring them for disposal, The USCGA will be offering a vessels safety check so bring your boat get it checked and then if you wish enter the fun kayak race. Door prizes will be awarded or take a chance on the great raffle prizes.
