"Art for the Cure" Art Show for Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation

The soft pink tones of the portico overlooking the ocean will set the mood in October as Pier Village and its merchants partner with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Central and South Jersey Affiliate, to present Pier Village Goes Pink, a month chock full of art, special events, promotions and activities dedicated to breast cancer awareness and the quest for the cure.

Two unique art happenings are the focus of the month. On Thursday, October 18th, The Bungalow Hotel hosts the pink pARTy, where guests will be treated to a dizzying array of live art experiences along with delicious food from McLoones Pier House and a special selection of desserts by Cake Bake and Roll. Noted artist David Banegas will be creating one of his signature paintings on site, jeweler Diane Cypser will display a jewelry collection created especially for the event, and Anthony Primo of Candy’s Cottage showcasing his glassblowing artistry, along with much more, with sales of artwork benefitting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Tickets are $100 and available on

Regional artists will be displaying and selling their work for Art for the Cure, an outdoor art show sponsored by Monmouth Medical Center that will line Pier Village’s Centennial Drive on Saturday and Sunday, October 20th and 21st. Limited space is available for artists displaying original works of art. A portion of the registration fee will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Central & South Jersey. Artists looking to participate in the show are encouraged to contact [masked] or call[masked]-4449.

Look for Pier Village Goes Pink activities and specials at participating merchants throughout the month. McLoone’s Pier House will feature the paintings of Mike Quon, principal and creative director of Quon Design, all month long, with an artist reception from 5-7 pm on Friday, October 5th. Pier House will donate 20% of guest’s checks that evening and 15% of the guest’s checks on Thursday, September 6th and 13th to Susan G. Komen for the Cure as part of its Dine to Donate program. McLoone’s will match the total raised on these dates as part of the donation.

Look for special events and fun for all ages throughout the month, including a Sneaker Factory’s 2-mile Fun Run on October 13th to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, signature pink cocktails at Indulge martini bar and specials at the Wine Loft, and after parties and specials at Molly & Zoey, Carter & Cavero, Shoe Inn and several other Pier Village establishments, with proceeds dedicated to the Central and South Jersey Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Shaka will be hosting noted surf artist Jay Alders. Teach the little ones the value of giving back early: children are invited to trick-or-treat for special pink candy and bring their coins to donate to Susan G. Komen for the Cure at the Pier Village Pink-O-Ween parade, starting at noon on Saturday, October 27th.
