Your delinquent organizer is back on track! During a recent trip to Scotland I met a fellow traveler, Laura B. Weiss, who is a food writer who just happened to recently publish "Ice Cream: A Global History". So even the laziest of organizers (moi) realized it was time to get back to business.
So, let's read the book and get together and talk about and eat some frosty treats! Laura will also gladly join us via Skype for a Q&A, so I will try to make that happen.
For those of you who are new to our Meetup, this is how things will work:
--RSVP asap because I can only host a limited number in my home. There will be a waiting list and most people on the list usually make it in.
--Read the book. Amazon has it on Kindle and also has some used copies. I will check and see if Maple Street has any copies and let you know.
--Plan on bringing a food related item to share. You don't have to personally make it; you can opt to bring a favorite purchased treat. And you don't have to bring a whole lot. Just enough for 10-12 people to have a little taste. IMPORTANT: Indicate in the RSVP list what you plan to bring. If you have already RSVP'd, just go back in and click "change your RSVP and respond YES again and write in your food item in the comment space. That way everyone will see what everyone else is contributing.
--I will provide beverages (including wine), plates, utensils, etc.
--I will email the address to those attending, a few days in advance.
That's it! Have fun. Stay cool. See you soon.
