Announcing a new Meetup for New Orleans Banquets and Books!

What: Glories of the Local Stew

When: Thursday, November 11,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Lorraine's home in Uptown
Address will be given after you RSVP.
New Orleans, LA 70118

Hi banqueting book people!

I am really happy to announce that our next book selection is Gumbo Tales by Sara Roahen.

Publishers Weekly had this to say: "...this culinary tour succeeds repeatedly in defining the indefinable with grace, wit and passion-especially in regards to the city's alluring, complex flavors and aromas." And Booklist says: "Roahen poignantly addresses the unwelcome diner at the table but finds the soul of the city in its many cooks."

Gumbo Tales
is available at Maple Street Bookstore--be sure to ask for your book club discount! You can also find it at the New Orleans and Jefferson Parish public libraries and it is available on Kindle.

As always, we'll meet at my Uptown home for some good talk about the book and to share some food and drink. I'll make some gumbo, and I invite one or two of you to bring a sample of a favorite soup.

See you then!
