Celebrate your right to birth control.....June 7

June 7th is the anniversary of the Griswold v. Connecticut decision, when the Supreme Court ruled that married couples have the right to get family planning information.
Obviously, this decision was an important milestone for women's rights and the right for families, not the church or government, to make decisions about the number andtiming of their children.
Sadly, there is serious efforts to take away our rights. The American Life League has begun a campaign thepillkills.com and has dubbed June 7th "protest the pill day".
These people oppose not only abortion, but also birthcontrol pills, the IUD and condoms and are far outside the mainstream; in fact polling shows that the majority of the US believes that birthcontrol is a personal decision that should be available.
What many people don't realize is that quietly, right wing extremists have worked to undermine these rights. This campaign is just the latest of their attacks on women's rights.
If you learn of any protests at area health clinics, please let everyone know so we can plan a counter event. We need to expose these extremists by getting out and talking to young people about birthcontrol and the attacks on our rights.
