WordPress.com Happy Hour

A team of folks from Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com, Jetpack, Akismet, and other stuff founded by Matt Mullenweg) will be in New Orleans this week to work together. They'll host a happy hour to get to know whichever members of the local WordPress community are interested in joining them for a drink on Wednesday April 16.

In addition to their Automattic projects, many of these folks have also been active in the open source project. Andy Peatling is the founder of BuddyPress, Matt Miklic has been leading the visual design of the WordPress core application and wordpress.org site for years, Mel Choyce is an active core contributor and one of the organizers of the Boston WordPress Meetup and WordCamp Boston, Matías Ventura has contributed heavily to the theme choosing experience in WordPress as well as several recent default themes, and Eric Johnson and Maxime Biais work on the WordPress native mobile apps.
