Day trip to Seward - Hike Mount Marathon

Anyone interested in a day trip to Seward? I would say car pool down, then those interested can hike Mount Marathon and get one of those cool 3022ft. stickers for your car. Any takers?

By chance did any of you get the 3022 ft sticker? Wasn't able to attend the meet up but just did the hike and thought we'd try and get the sticker. Thanks so much!

We are 30 miles from Seward. We'll be at the trail head by 11am.

As a group we can decide to do the Racer's Trail or the easier trail or we can split up just as long as there are at least two people going each way.
Let's meet in Seward at the corner or Monroe and 1st if you skip the Walmart meeting spot. I would figure we can meet there in Seward at 10:30-11AM.
I'll post a picture of my truck and where it's parked in the Walmart parking lot in the morning.
My phone number is[masked] if you have any questions.

How long would this trip to Seward be? An all day thing?

Pretty much depending on if you wanted to sight see or not. A couple hours there, a couple hours back and a couple hours or more (depending on the pace) to hike.

I'm on a fishing trip in Soldotna and we decided to extend it a day which means I can't go to Seward. Hope you all have fun!

I live in Seward and would've to join, bring my dog as well...?

It sounds like Jasper has done this before, I haven't hiked this path, but worst case if you did bring your dog and things started to get bad, you could turn around and meet us back at the bottom. It's your dog and your call.

Speaking of car pooling, I have a ride down but not back from Seward. I'd be very willing to chip in to cover gas back to Anchorage. (As long as you don't drive a gas guzzler like my truck.)

Hello all, I'm in town for the week for a conference. However I don't have a vehicle at my disposal. Would someone be able to help me carpool? I'd be willing to pay for gas!

For post hike libations I'm going to recommend The Salmon Bake. It gets high ratings on Yelp and generally that's a good indicator. http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-salmon-bake-seward?osq=dinner

I'm mixed on heading out this weekend. It's been drizzling all week here in Anchorage. The trails are probably going to be muddy/damp at best. The forecast for Sunday is 67 and 20% chance or rain. Looking historically, things are average, so there hasn't been more rain than usual or less. I live here in Anchorage now, so I am not in a rush to go.
If you think we should NOT go, post a reply. As long as a majority still want to go this Sunday we will. If we plan a rain date, I'd recommend July 6th, that should see the party winding down, and have fewer people in town.

Looks like it's going to be raining that day. Is it still on if so?Super slippery when it's wet. Plan on getting super muddy if it's heavy.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
