I didn't see a big group of 20+ people at the trailhead, so I went up solo! Sorry I missed everyone.

That's why people need to take their name off of the RSVP if they aren't going to show up so people aren't looking for them or waiting on them SMH. Kind of frustrating.

I apologize. I was one of them who didn't show. Meant to, but then something came up at work and my phone was dead. Couldn't change my RSVP.

Just as a casual warning for anyone who is unfamiliar with this hike, it's often cited as an easy hike, which can be rather misleading. It has a pretty decent elevation gain and there is some scrambling required toward the top. If you're not in somewhat decent shape and wearing proper footwear this hike can be difficult. Not to detour anyone, it's beautiful and completely worth it. Just be prepared.

I've hiked flat top a couple time in running shoes and though it's not ideal they'll work. They can be a little slippery on the decent but as long as your careful you'll be fine.

I have done it in running shoes. Trail runners work great too.

Walking sticks are not a terrible idea if you have them. Kind of saves your knees on the way down. Water is probably a good idea for those of you who don't do a lot of hiking. If you already have a small backpack, Walmart has the hydration packs for about $12.00.

Yeah, I just did the hike for the 1st time the other day: It's Totally Awesome, but athletic or climbing shoes are recommended. Also, for you Newbies, I have a 2/1 passes for the Alaska Museum of Science & Nature, One Skate session @ Dimond Ice Chalet and the Alaska Experience theater if anyone anyone would like to join me or go to the Botanical Gardens sometime this summer let me know !!!
