Let's do another mid-week hike! This time we're heading to the Flatirons. The Flatirons are named so for their resemblance to the triangular, flat-faced metal irons used by early settlers to iron clothing.
We will head up Chautauqua Trail, cross Bluebell Baird, and head up to Flatiron #1 and #2. At the top we will have great views of the Flatirons, Boulder, and the Continental Divide (Indian Peaks by Ned). From there we will either head back down the Trail, approximately 3 miles, or loop around the flatiron climbing access area and loop back to the ranger station.
Here's the Chautauqua map.
The trail is moderate strenuous, and bring traction control devices if you have them. Snow ice may be melted with all the warm weather but it's good to be prepared. Also bring water and snack.
Depending on group we can head to Southern Sun for lunch.
Hope to see you there!
