Peddles and Pints

Boulder combines both a bike friendly environment and could be the micro brew capital of the world.  What better way to celebrate the combination than to peddle around the tralis to some selected micro brews.

Boulder Brewery
love this place. cool atmosphere, especially when its nice enough to sit outside. small operation and taproom, good feel to it. really friendly staff that was happy to do a private tour for me. lots of nice beers on tap, and usually a cask offering, all at reasonable prices. food at lunchtime was excellent and prices were plenty fair. in fact, after my tour i was given about half a pitcher of each beer they had going, which needless to say was enough to get wasted and then some. all of that was free. an all around good time

Twisted Pine
Fun place to check out. Small hole in the wall brewery but they make it some fine brews. The place seems to be frequented by regulars, but they were all friendly, along with the staff, and willing to share their impressions. Didn't try the food, but the regulars were all eating for the most part and at least by the looks. The beer offering is decent and each was pretty tasty. I had heard a lot about the Billy's Chiles so made sure to tasted that one. Got a flight of beers to get a taste of more of what they offered. Saved the Ghost Face Killa for last, hot, but not mouth ruining like I feared. The regulars were waiting to see my reaction, which was kind of funny. Overall a cool little bar to spend a couple hours. Not a sports bar but seemed like it would be a good spot to enjoy some beers with a game in the back ground.

Wild Woods Brewery
a new husband and wife operation not too far from avery. been open just 5 weeks so far, and seem to have a really good thing going. the beer is fresh and creative. they had 6 on tap, including a wildflower pale ale made with jasmine that is absolutely sensational. very earthy nature first feel inside, and its reflected in their beers. treeline ipa with juniper berries was a treat as well. jake the main man is a really nice guy, humble and friendly. vibe is cool inside, great music, low lighting, some outside seating too. a place hours could pass with buddies. cant wait to come back for the pink peppercorn and pear saison thats brewing. i hope this place makes it in the already saturated beer market. i had a great time here, and the beers were wonderful.

Avery
finally made it to avery on a day when it wasnt too crowded to enter the palce. its quite big inside, tucked back in an industrial park. few rooms, lots of people, outside seating area, maybe 15 or more taps, huge selection. all the beers were obviously fantastic, and there is always a few exclusive beers there that they dont bottle, which is great. the range was impressive, and the service was kind and good for how busy it was. prices were totally reasonable, food looked good, but we didnt eat, and it was just a great place to hole up for the afternoon and sample fine beers. definitely check it out if you make it to boulder, this place has it all, and the beer speaks for itself.

Additional Info...

As most with outdoor activities the ride will be dependant on mother nature.

We all need to keep in mind, we're in Boulder, so drink responsibly.

Hey folks didn't see anyone at Wildwoods or Twisted, so I went back to house, was pretty windy for a ride so I understand.

Gah! I missed the start at Wildwoods so I waited at Boulder Brewery, then when I realized it was closed on Sundays I headed to Avery and waited there for about half an hour, then headed to Wildwoods. I had a nice brew there, sitting in the sun with a magazine. Rats! I should have made it to the start - I didn't have a bike but we could have had a brew together. I'll be back in January, hopefully. I'll join an outing then. Thanks for organizing, Dave. Sorry you didn't have anyone to ride with.
