Ever had goosebumps listening to a choir sing? Do you enjoy singing and secretly wish you could be in that choir, but feel you're not up to it? Don't worry! So did we, but we got together to do it anyway because singing makes us feel so good! We're an adult amateur beginner to intermediate choir, all about providing a fun and safe environment for you to discover or improve your Voice. Come and join us!!
We're a mixed bunch of Voices from all walks of life and many different countries. No auditions and no music-reading! That's not how we work. Rebecca, our classically trained vocal leader, has a unique easy-to-follow and engaging style, which will get you singing stuff you never thought you could - without you even noticing! And you will also find that your Voice and ability to pick up tunes just by listening to them will improve in no time.
We sing a whole range of different genres: from soul to folk, South African music to 20s/30s/40s music, pop to rock & roll, Rebecca arranges our repertoire in a way that is fun, challenging in the right way and gorgeous to sing all at once!
For example, for the 2015 Spring term, we are working on arrangements of:
A Change Is Gonna Come (Sam Cooke)
I'm Yours (Jason Mraz)
Aya Ngena (Zulu war song)
Ukuthula (Zulu traditional song)
We get together most Monday nights from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Voxbox Studios in Camden (164, Eversholt St, London, NW1 1BL). We work during school terms with an informal performance for family and friends at the end of each term at the Pack & Carriage pub next door to the Studios. The Summer term will start on 13 April 2015 with a performance on 6 July.
The first session is free and after that it's £55 per half-term or £100 if you pay for the whole term. Each term is usually 10 sessions. Concession rates are available for students, seniors and people on a low income (equivalent to £8 per session).
If you're not sure whether we're the right choir for you, no problem. Just come and say hello. We'd love to meet you!
