I found out that they gave Iram the wrong time information, so it was not this Meetup's fault that Security/Guard was not aware we were invited to arrive at 6. I was one of the first there and waited through the rain. They were nice enough to open the doors for us half an hour before their intended 7 pm time, so we were able to go in at 6:30ish.
Though the weather did not cooperate with us for a sunshine shoot, we were able to go inside the houses which are really beautiful plus there was a nice photo exhibit and free appetizers.
I think those of us that did go inside made lemonade out of lemons, despite the weather.
I appreciate the fact that being part of this Meetup allows us for unique opportunities like these. Normally one cannot enter this place during the golden hours.
Thanks Iram for letting us know about it and posting it. Next time, just make sure the weather cooperates!

Unfortunately Deering Estate gates were closed at 6 PM. It started raining. The staff wasn't aware of this Meetup at 6:00 PM. They confused the photo shoot with another event that was taking place at 7:00 PM. They finally allowed us access to the property at 6:40 PM to - as far as I know - the only two group members that showed up to this late afternoon photo opportunity.

I'm a little confused, at the top it says access is free, yet in the driving directions in two places it states that tickets to the Estate are available for purchase at the Main Gate ticket booth - is it free or is there a charge to go into the Estate where the photo exhibit is in. Also if we arrive early, what time will they allow us on the grounds of the Estate, never been here before.
