A LESSON ON LIGHTMETERS

New Way Photography

present

Andre Rowe

Join us on location with camera in hand as we offer the first, and arguably the most important, of our six part lighting workshop series

In this first part of the series, a 3 hrs workshop, we will begin a basic to sophisticated use of a light-meter. We will show you how to use it, where to use it and relate it to the meter in your camera to bring forth the distinction between the two. We will also briefly touch on the in-camera histogram as there has been a long running misconception that the histogram is able to replace the use of a light-meter.

In this part of the series we will also center around metering light in three particular areas: in direct ambient light, in backlit environments, and in mix lighting. Lastly, we will introduce flash, explain the metering of that flash, and demonstrate the most suitable way to establish fill light without over influencing the ambient light.

You are encouraged to bring your own light-meter should you have one, but is no necessary that you own a light-meter or bring one to the workshop.

In the event you wish to purchase one, we would recommend any lightmeter from the Sekonic brand. The lightmeter of choice for this workshop series is the Sekonic L-358,

Please bring your camera, lenses ranging from 35mm to 85mm, memory cards, extra camera battery, a tripod, a small and as an additional option, you can bring a POCKET WIZARD TRANSCEIVER.

Hi...Iram...are you sure that you are not talking about TY Park? TY Park is West of I-95 off Sheridan Street and N Park Road. I have never heard of Greenbelt Park...Marty

    Hi everyone,
I am new to New Way Photography Meetup and not sure how to post messages. This is the third message that I have sent because I do not see my message posted anywhere on the site.

I apologize to everyone if this is the third message you have received from me.

Can someone be a little more specific on the location? The map attached to this message drops you right smack in the middle of the airport. I've searched the map on Griffin Road, east of I95 but I don't see it on the map. Thanks in advance!

We are planning to have the workshop on time this Saturday, in case of rain we will check the forecast on Friday night to see if is possible to have the workshop remember this one is outdoor, so if the forecast is bad (raining day) we will re-schedule for another date.
I recommend to stay tuned with our website to further news.
    Thanks

Iram. The link to the new map is not working, there must be an address to the park, I am not familiar with the area.
