What do you do?

I work as a claims representative; what I do is public interviewing, taking applications for benefits, and handling paperwork & related post-application duties (ie appeals, follow-up requests & evidence).

What do you hope to accomplish by joining us?

Meeting new people and networking.

Share with us an interesting, non-business-related tidbit of information about yourself.

I occasionally get mistaken for a Barnes 'n Noble employee. One of the last times that happened, someone approached me and asked me which floor to go to for a book subject, and I'm pretty sure after I told him where to go to (being familiar enough with the store and book layout) he said, "I knew it!". Guess you can't win either by saying you aren't an employee or being helpful =p

Social Networking for Asians in the New York, NY Metro Area

The mission of the New York Asian Professionals Meetup is to connect Asian people in the New York metropolitan area: life is richer when you have more relationships! Come meet other Asians in a low-key, fun environment.

The NYAPM is the largest of its kind -- in the WORLD. Once you join our group, you're instantly connected to over 3,000 Asian professionals living and working in and around New York City.

When you go to our events, you can mix & mingle with the 200+ Asian professionals that typically attend. Many of our members have become good friends and now get together outside the Meetup -- and that's what this is all about: connecting with like-minded people in a casual, relaxed atmosphere.

Our typical member is Asian, age 21-45, based in the NY metro area, and probably working in either the finance or technology sector. But all ages and professions (and students) are welcome!

Our typical event is at an upscale lounge or event space, usually with drink specials and sometimes with free food. Usually 200+ members show up, with an even amount of men and women. With no "60-second elevator speeches" or formal introductions, our events focus on the fun, social side of networking. Our members are friendly and chatty, but if you do need an introduction, either of our Organizers would be happy to provide several for you.

Our group and our events are not for non-Asians.
