Tell us your story -- where are you from and what was your journey to becoming a business owner? (Include your LinkedIn profile if you have one.)

Grew up in the suburbs of Washington DC. Studied computer science at MIT, then literature in England at Cambridge University. Went from report to board member of the Financial Times, running the global website business; then a product director for Google, then chief of staff of Bloomberg's consumer media business. Finally decided to go into business myself in this great city of New York.

Tell us about your business.

My wife and I own Happy Dogs, a quality dog daycare business with two locations -- Williamsburg and Stuyvesant Town. She runs it full-time and I help in the background. Meanwhile, I'm working on a new entertainment-related business -- a game lounge for grown-ups concept. Here's my LinkedIn page:

What's the best part of being a business owner? The worst?

The sense of ownership, not just financial, but emotionally. The burden that comes with that ownerships.

Favorite business books?

Small Giants: Companies that Choose to Be Great Instead of Big by Bo Burlingame -- which changed the way I thought about entrepreneurship and ambition.

Favorite non-business books?

Shakespeare. Though it's been too long since I've read any!

Former global media executive who now owns a dog daycare business -- and is working on another entertainment-related business -- in New York City.
