hi. i live in tribeca. i'm a stay at home mom feeling more and more isolated every day. i need to get out and do something for myself (i think).
my son is in first grade and was diagnosed with asperger's syndrome last february (at age 5). i am his primary caregiver (along with my husband) and advocate for school, therapy and life. his life has eclipsed my own...that is for sure.
regaining a sense of self, community, support, giving and some pure relaxation.

Welcome Sharyn ! It sounds like this Circle is just what you need. In order to give you must first receive. Looking forward to sharing some practical and fun techniques with you that will also benefit your son!
Hi Sharyn,
Thank you for your kind note! My son, Max, is 10 1/2. It took us a long time to get the diagnosis of AS, but we had him fully evaluated at Columbia Presbyterian when he was in third grade. Every day is an adventure. Looking forward to exchanging stories and strategies.
Best regards,
Dave
Hi Sharyn,
That would be great if you were able to make it. I look forward to meeting you.
Fiona
Hi Sharyn,
If you are not able to make this meeting, maybe a couple of us can come and meet you somewhere in the city in a couple of weeks or so. Let me know what you think.

Hi Sharyn. Welcome to the group. In answer to your question, I can tell you that the school district for South Salem would probably be Katonah-Lewisbo
ro, reputedly a good district but the middle and high schools are on the big side and that would cause problems for my children. My 12 yr old was in the Eastchester school district (one of the better districts at working with children on the spectrum) but recently moved to a BOCES program in Irvington which is more finely tuned to his needs.
Hello Sharyn, Welcome to the "Zany" world of AS. My son is 9 and was diagnosed in 03' with PDD/Nos, and in 08' because he is high functioning and tons of therapy he has been re-diagnosed to AS. Westchester does offer some great services, but with anything you have to sometimes be agressive when it comes to getting the right and effective services for your child. Once you have an IEP it will get easier, a bit of advice make sure that if anything you want a SEIT (aide) for you son in school.
