The NJIRT (njirt.org) is hosting an OCR (Orientation to Cave Rescue) Class April 28-29 in Clinton, NJ. We have gotten permission from the Round Valley River Authority to use Leigh Cave as part of the class. (NJ's largest Cave). I reccomend this class to all new cavers so they can better understand the caving environment. I'll post more info soonish. this is not the correct address but it is the closest I can give a.t.m.

This class is NOT for people who have zero caving experience.

please have atleast 15 hours under your belt before requesting invitation.

instruction is not just classroom lecture.. you will be in tight passage carrying a person on a stretcher in the dark thru mud .

grotto members get first priority in rsvp.

THIS IS A 2 DAY CLASS. BOTH DAYS ARE REQD

BRING ALL GEAR NEEDED FOR CAVING AS TRAINING WILL BE BOTH IN CLASSROOM AND IN CAVE.

if you have less than 15 hours cave experince please change your rsvp... this is a hands on rescue and will be the same as the real thing..

ALSO if you are not yet sure.. please do not rsvp until you can confirm.. space is very limited

Hi Shana. I speak a little bit of ASL. I'm not fluent, and I'm pretty rusty, but I can do my best. If nothing else, I can finger-spell some of the key points.

Kay, perhaps there can be some written slides for the classroom portion?

There is a prerequisite for this meet up trip.. theres are over 60 people interested in this trip. I can only take 15. so I want to give the people who have actually been inside a cave and know that they like it first opportunity...AND theres 3 months between now and then for people to have the chance to get underground and see if they want to commit..also I dont give out locations in a comment..because some people just decide to show up..early..and then those who rsvpd are told there is no room

for a 1st time in a cave come on a trip were you can back out of the cave @ any point. I run beginner trips often so everyone w/ interest gets to go and if you bail no harm.but this is a weekend commitment & $$ commitment w/hotel and class fee. these classes arent offered every weekend. im responsible when someone pays and changes their mind because they got scared 5 min. in and they demand a refund. I had a MEETUPer demand 8$ refund from NRO ! this trip there's a request.be sure BEFORE you rsvp
