New Yorkers turn two at Alibi

Time to celebrate two years as a successful meeting point for New Yorkers to find each other out here in the wild west. We are one of the largest ex-New Yorker communities on Meetup and when you Google “ex-New Yorkers in San Francisco” we're at the top of the listings. So let’s use this resource to gather New York style at Alibi in SOMA.

We also need to figure out the best future for this group. Stephen would like to pass on his part of the leadership torch and I've been a leader for two years.

There are no term limits in Meetup but perhaps there should be. I know that people have come up with ideas for get-togethers that I personally didn't make happen. This community will be a lot more vibrant and fun for all with new people taking an active role in creating happenings of all types with our 360+ members. It can be a lot of fun.

The group is up for renewal with Meetup at the end of the month; I’m willing to play a role but shouldn't play the primary one going forward. If you have any ideas please put them in the comments below or send me a message via Meetup. There are too many fun things to do.

So…Alibi has a Happy Hour and a food menu that includes both ‘Chopped Italian Kale Salad’ and ‘Slow Roasted Pork Carnitas’. Come out and enjoy a drink and maybe a bite with people who have made the same journey that you have.

Happy to be able to invite you.

Maybe sometime we can meet for fondue at Matterhorn, Swiss restaurant at Van Ness/Green. It's a great group meal.
Thanks Jeff for Alibi! I flew to Morocco the next morn.

Hi - Outdoor, out of city activities sound like fun. Not sure where these places are, I'd drive about 30 to 45 minutes from GG, but probably not more for a day trip.

Good times with good people. Eddie from Brooklyn agreed. I'd be willing to host 1 or 2 events each year if needed. Thanks again to Jeff for putting this together.

My first NY meet up was the walk on the Presidio last month, really enjoyed it easy to move around and talk to lots of people. I hope this group does more outdoors, this a beautiful city for that. Spent enough time in NYC in restaurants/pubs etc. Or a gallery tour, or ? I can't make next meetup but look forward meeting again.

I agree...the Presidio was fun and people seemed to be having a good time. If this group continues past April I hope that we can plan similar outdoor events. Thanks.

Regarding ideas for events. Anyone interested in doing the Bay to Breakers in May? I don't officially register. I usually walk the first half and slowly jog the second half. We would select a place to meet after the race, in case we lose each other.

Wish I could make it, but I will be in New York for Tribeca! Irony.
