So at the summer craft beer festival at Webster Hall, we ran into a nice lady named Heather who told me she and some partners were opening a beer store in Brooklyn soon. I followed the progress and saw the place open at the end of August and have been wanting to go there ever since.
I talked to Heather this week and she said she would absolutely love to have our group come by, so I am squeezing this meetup in amongst all of the other activities we have planned. So join me in visiting the St Gambrinus Beer Shoppe!
According to Wikipedia, Gambrinus is a legendary king of Flanders, and an unofficial patron saint of beer or beer brewing so I like this place already. The setup is similar to Top Hops or Breuklen Bier Merchants in that it's a beer store as well as a bar. Taps are available and bottles can be carried out or drunk on premise, although there may be a surcharge for drinking the bottle on-site.
A couple of things specific to this meetup: There is a basketball game at Barclays Center that night at 7:00 so we're starting our meetup later than usual to avoid any of the pre-game crowd. Also, it is a very small place so we have to cap it at 25 people. They are reserving 16 seats for us,which is the majority of the place. However, between talking and ordering beer and people coming and going , we should be fine.
The location is ridiculously convenient to the Atlantic Avenue subway station which is served by almost every line imaginable, so don't let that stop you from checking this out.
Also, I can't believe our last meetup in Brooklyn was in June. We need to do better with Brooklyn meetups! Will definitely do more there next year!
