Let's enjoy a beautiful day in the Hudson Highlands!
This is a strenuous, all-day hike with few breaks, but stunning views and beautiful woods starting to wake up for Spring - what's not to like about that?
You must be self-sufficient with gear, have a map and compass and know how to use them. We'll hike as a loose group, splitting up or changing the route as is necessary/desired.
City folk - we'll meet at the Main Information Booth (the Clock) in Grand Central Terminal at 7:30, and board the 7:44 train to Breakneck Ridge. Drivers can meet us at the Breakneck Ridge parking area, just North of the tunnel at 9:05.
The proposed route is up Breakneck Ridge, and then North over Sunset Point and to Beacon Firetower. From there, we'll traverse North around the Fishkill Ridge Loop, out towards Lamb Hill. Then we'll turn back South, and traverse the ridge, with options of stopping at Sugarloaf Mountain (beautiful in late afternoon!) and Bull Hill, before descending into Cold Spring.
Optional Beer, Ice Cream, or Burgers/Dinner in Cold Spring.
