This is not a hike for beginners. We'll be moving at a fast pace.
Hiking Level: Intermediate/Advanced
Terrain: Steep scrambling and long climbs and descents
Elevation Gain: 4500+ feet
Distance: 14 miles
Hiking Pace: brisk, 2-2.5mph (Fast Pace, not leisurely)
No sweeper or set group pace
About the Hike:
This is a great hike filled with wonderful views, some scrambling and long extended climbs. Please only join this hike if you are strong hiker who has done a few 12+ mile hikes in the past month or so.
Follow the Red marked Devils Path from Prediger Rd. to Devils Tombstone (Route 214). We will summit FOUR 3500' peaks, Indian Head, Twin, Sugarloaf, and Plateau Mountains. Great fall weather is expected for the weekend, so let's spend Saturday doing a long day hike. Plus, enjoy the beginning of fall colors!

Car Drivers and Riders:
People who are coming by car and are willing to give rides, please write in your RSVP from where and when you are leaving. If you'd like a ride, please contact a driver (and bring $10-20 to chip in for gas and tolls.)
EVERYONE IS TO MEET AT THE PARKING AREA AT DEVILS TOMBSTONE. We will meet at 8:30AM for our short shuttle.
From Devils Tombstone, we will take the minimum number of cars to the beginning of the hike at Prediger Rd. parking area.
Directions: From the NYS Thruway take Exit 19, (Route 28/Kingston/Rhinecliff Bridge). Take Route 28 West for 23 miles. Turn Right on to Main St. in Phonecia. Make first left on to Route 214 North and take approx. 9 miles. Parking area will be on the left.
Day Hiking Gear:
Standard gear: hiking boots, non-cotton clothes, sunhat/windhat, etc.
2 liters of water minimum, more if you get thirsty easily.
Lunch, snacks and extra food.
