Saturday: Intermediate HARRIMAN - 10-12 Miles

  • Dec 7, 2013 · 9:00 AM

Contact me if you have any questions:[masked]-HIKE

*** If getting a ride, don't forget to help the driver with gas and tolls: $10 is customary***

Basics: This will be an Intermediate hike of 10-12 miles. There will be no scrambling but several uphills; as a result the pace will be quick (about 2 mi/hour), a bit faster than my usual hikes.

We will gather in the Lake Sebago Boat Launch parking area (about 4 miles on 7 Lakes Drive after turnoff from rte 17).

Note that due to the season, there are tons of leaves on the ground and the terrain could have some icy spots. If you have hiking poles, please bring them along.

Hike Length: 10-12 miles, 3,000+ elevation, looping trails
Difficulty: Intermediate
Pace: 2 mph

Meeting: 9AM on Saturday, Dec 7th at Lake Sebago Boat Launch. Note the parking lot has poor cell phone reception so please be on time.

Getting a Spot: Please write in your RSVP if you are driving and can offer rides. And update your RSVP if you can't make it.

Transportation: Car Only

From New York State (north) –-> from Rte.17, take right onto 7 Lakes Drive. After 4 miles you'll see a small hanging sign on the left for Sebago Boat Launch: [masked],[masked]

-- Trekking poles!! (STRONGLY suggested -- slippery leaves and potential ice on the ground)
Hat/ gloves, warm layers/jacket. Hand and foot warmers if you get cold easily

-- Standard day-hiking gear
-- 2 liters of water at minimum
-- Lunch and Snacks
-- Hiking map of Southern Harriman

-- Headlamp if you have one

A more detailed description of proper day hiking equipment can be found here.

All the maps we use are available through the H&N store. The Harriman map set covers this hike.

General plan of our route, but should not replace a hard-copy map.
