I rented out Grace Cabin, a great back country cabin surrounded by the high peaks. It is a 3 miles flat hike in from the trail head.

As of Wed night there is 1 bed left in the cabin - Contact Andre.

Showshoes are required.

Grace cabin is awesome and I can't wait to go back next winter! Good snowshoeing and several inches of fresh snow Saturday night gave us one last bit of winter.

Thanks Andre for organizing! It was nice seeing you and Yelena and nice meeting Rob, Jooy, Nick, Esben and Theo. I learned so much from all of you at my first trip to ADK. Looking forward to more trips like this with you guys in the future!

Looks like the weather report just changed (to the better) and its now predicting heavy snow fall for Saturday night, 10". It's going to be beautiful. Sunny and warm weather during Saturday day.

I have a car and will be driving from Brooklyn. I would prefer to not drive by myself before committing to this trip so please let me know if anyone needs a ride OR if there are other carpools I can join. Thanks!

Anyone want to take point on organizing camping? Reservations are required for all lean-to on JBL property. There are campsites farther up the trail

    March 25

    • jooy

Esben and Heather-- are you both still camping/lean-to'ing? Are you OK with $25/nite to be near the JBL Grace cabin, or do you want to hike further (off JBL property)? I don't want to pay $50 (2 nites) to camp alone. Please let me know, thank you.

I was thinking of finding a tent site on the way in from the Garden parking lot. Preferable as close to the cabin as possible. Maybe just walk in somewhere.

Just found out a dear friend is making a last minute trip to NYC this weekend so I am going to stay in the city. You guys have fun. V. jealous since might be the end of the good snow!

Hey Andre, I'm looking at the National Geo ADK High Peaks map. Found Garden trail head and John's Brook Lodge, but Grace Cabin or Goodwin lean-to are not on the map. Do you know if Goodwin lean-to has another name? Maybe Wm. G. Howard lean-to?

    • Heather L.

I've done Grey. It's a short climb with 3ish small slab scrambles. There's supposed to be a storm Wednesday, I think? I was going to do the lean to/camp over cabins.

      March 24

    • Laurie C.

I will camp/lean to as well. We should each bring a plastic tarp so we'll have tarps to block out the wind. We did this in ADK the other weekend and was very necessary. Will be lighter if we each carried one.

  • Laurie C.

Wondering if others are definitely going and camping?I

    March 23

  • Christopher R.

    Anyone wanna backpack in?

    March 17

    • Heather L.

I'd prefer to backpack in...as long as we don't get to the lean to at 4 am. :)

    • Laurie C.

I'll hike in! But no 4 am hikes!
