Event: Let's get together and spend a day in small town of Poughkeepsie "The Queen City of the Hudson", located in the Hudson valley.
We’ll walk along the water front, overlooking Hudson river. Then we’ll visit Locust Grove Estate-elegant Italianate style villa, home of artist and inventor Samuel F.B. Morse.
The address: Locust Grove Estate
2683 South Road
Poughkeepsie, NY 12601
Also we'll come by Locust Lawn Farm which is not far away(if the time will allow)
Meeting time and place:
“Meet me under the clock” of the Grand Central Terminal Station information booth, located in the main concourse area at 8:30am or 10:40 at Poughkeepsie train station
I suggest arriving at Grand Central station at 8:30am so you'll have time to buy your ticket (there is often a line).
We have to get 8:43am metro-north rail road tickets to station NY. http://as0.mta.info/mnr/schedules/sched_results.cfm?n=y
We will aim for the 4:00pm train from Poughkeepsie back to Grand Central Terminal.
Cost: metro-north rail road is about $27
Locust Grove Estate tour is $10 (optional)
Please, write in your RSVP if you are driving and from where and if you're willing to offer a ride to fellow hikers.
Definitely, it will be a great getaway and a chance to see the best scenery of Hudson valley
