Want a great excuse to hike Bear Mountain? What if it could help kids from NYC's inner city neighborhoods get the opportunity to get outdoors and experience some of the things everyone on The Hiking and Nature Meetup loves to do?
Sierra Club Inner City Outings program is a 100% volunteer run organization that works with various agencies through NYC, taking kids hiking, ice skating, orienteering, camping, x-country skiing, snowshoeing and more.
We are holding our annual Hike-athon at Bear Mountain on October 20, 2012 at 10am. At the event, you can choose to hike with the kids from one of our agencies or choose to hike on your own. Registration is free, but we do ask that you raise $150 to support our program. Every dollar you raise will go straight to funding trips for our agencies.
And there is a bonus! October 20th is also during Oktoberfest at Bear Mountain, so when you are done with your hike, you can enjoy live music and great beer.
