Yes, as stated above I have lived most of my life about a thirty minute drive away from the Great Smokey Mountains of East Tennessee. I suppose I averaged a couple of trips to the mountains each month for about ten years. Mostly these excursions were day-hikes of the intermediate to moderate scale of difficulty, generally between 7-15 miles round trip. I have some experience with backpacking and overnight camping, but not a great deal.
I would say intermediate.
