Please use a picture showing your face. Some event hosts require it, and it is always helps to recognize people.

Do you understand that these are social events for hikers, and you are responsible for your own safety at all times?

Which types of events interest you: Short day hikes, long day hikes, weekend camping, backpacking, winter hiking, world travel, rock climbing, canyoneering, mountaineering, etc?

All of the above. I'd like to hike NJ and NY more since I hardly know any trails - on short and long hikes in all seasons. But I'm up for camping and backpacking with a great group of people. I'm an experienced world traveler myself, so I can help with logistics on putting together good trips.

Do you have any hiking experience? If yes, where and what kind of trips? Please provide a brief description of length, duration and trail difficulty as this information helps us better plan events suitable for the group.

Sure do. My aunt and uncle got me into hiking about 20 years ago in Switzerland. I have mostly been a day hiker since then. I moved here from Seattle, so my favorite trails were in the Cascades mostly. However, I am a geographer, and my research area has been in China, so I have done many parts of the Great Wall and I've hiked in Xinjiang, Yunnan and Sichuan provinces over the past ten years. My ability is probably advanced intermediate. I like hikes with challenges, such as by incline, rock climbs or duration. I don't attend hikes that are "suitable for all ages" because I like to maintain a good pace and really get out into nature.

Would you say you're a slow, intermediate, or fast hiker?

Apparently I am among the faster ones.

I am new to the area and want to explore it more by hiking it.
