Please use a picture showing your face. Some event hosts require it, and it is always helps to recognize people.

Yes, yes.

Do you understand that these are social events for hikers, and you are responsible for your own safety at all times?

Yes.

Which types of events interest you: Short day hikes, long day hikes, weekend camping, backpacking, winter hiking, world travel, rock climbing, canyoneering, mountaineering, etc?

Potentially all, but I'll start with the day hikes.

Do you have any hiking experience? If yes, where and what kind of trips? Please provide a brief description of length, duration and trail difficulty as this information helps us better plan events suitable for the group.

Harriman, Catskills, Schunemunk, Mt. Washington (MA). South Mountain, Bear Mountain, Breakneck Ridge/Taurus/Casino, Minnewaska/Mohonk hikes, etc, etc. Regularly hike 15+ miles at a time. Longest flat and mountain hikes around 20 miles.

Would you say you're a slow, intermediate, or fast hiker?

Depends on the terrain. I'm low-intermediate on level ground and on descents, slow and steady on ascents. I tend to start slowly and pick up speed towards the last few miles.

Introduction

Hi, first year in the area, been hiking virtually every weekend for over half of it. Started as raw beginner, getting fitter every hike.

What Shayna is saying about this Meetup Group

I'm a basically fit beginner, compared to their advanced levels of fitness and experience, but still the leaders took time and effort to encourage and educate me. A special shout out to Yelena, who stayed with and encouraged me for practically the whole 11 miles.
