Come Escape the City with your Fellow Hiking Enthusiasts!

The Hiking and Nature Meetup is an active and well organized hiking group out of the New York City area. We make an effort to be as inclusive as possible by offering hiking at all levels, from short relaxing hiking trips to 20 mile hiking challenges.

We also do rock scrambling, rock climbing, wilderness skills classes, weekend hiking trips across the northeast, and adventure travel trips all over the world. Plus, as a four-season hiking group, there's snowshoeing, cross-country and downhill skiing, and winter mountaineering.

• Events are generally posted about two weeks in advance
• Most trips are accessible via public transportation and we try to organize car pools when they are not.

These are not guided trips - these are social events

This is a social club of hikers, so members are responsible for their own safety.

You do not have to be an expert outdoors-person, but you should, at minimum, know roughly what your hiking level is (in terms of the mileage, elevation, and pace you can do) and what gear (clothing, water, etc) you need. Ideally everyone should be comfortable hiking alone just in case the need a rises. 

If you do not have any hiking experience at all, please hike with a professional guide service a few times.

2) Have a profile photo showing your face. (This is required so your organizers can remember who's who)

3) And answer all the profile questions (so we know a little about you and what kind of events we should plan)
