Cantonese Potluck Dinner

  • Apr 27, 2013 · 8:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

RSVPS Open April 13th at 12PM

While Cantonese food is often associated with Chinese food there are many differences between the two. Cantonese food often consists of local ingredients such as fish, rice, yams, mangoes, lychees, chicken and pork. Cantonese cooks are also very inventive, and happy to incorporate non-native ingredients in their cooking. Coconut milk, rice noodles and curry powder, staples of Thai and Indian cuisine, show up in several Cantonese dishes.

For this event you must be willing to prepare at least on Cantonese dish, cockatails and wine are optional as always. We will have some too!

This is a potluck dinner but you can do finishing touches at the apt.

The fine print:

Please pick out what you would like to cook and confirm that you can make this event on the night of April 27th. Let us know which dish you want to cook in your RSVP so we can avoid any repeats. Each cook may bring one non-cook to enjoy the meal!

Cancellations: Please be 100% committed to attending this event, and cancel 48 hours in advance. There is limited space and each member puts in a lot of time, effort, and planning into each of these events. Late cancellations affect the group as a whole. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, or are a no show you could be removed from the group.

My friend and I can make Chinese dumplings! They're not exactly Cantonese style, but they're his family's recipe! Pretty authentic and tasty!

I'm going to attempt a mushroom infused chicken stew. It doesn't translate well into English, but I'm very excited to try other food and meet people.
