Under The Sea Tapas Party (Pot Luck)

This location is shown only to members

This time we are having an "Under the Sea" tapas party, but there is a "catch"! You can take the name literally and make a seafood tapas, or if your like me and you don't eat seafood or if you just want to be creative with your dish you can make any tapas with a seafood theme. (i.e shape it like a fish, etc).

When you prepare your dish you should keep in mind that portion sizes are smaller than ordinary recipes, since tapas are meant to be served with a lot of other tapas.  Therefore, portion sizes of recipes like paella, rice, or soup Should be  smaller than they would be if you were to rely on the recipe as an entrée. So, if you have an entree recipe that you would like to use, I suggest cutting it in half, or even into one third depending on how many servings the recipe yields.

To Participate you should be willing to make at least one Tapa plate, with a strongly suggested option of bringing a bottle of wine. We will have a few bottles too. I would encourage you to bring a bottle that compliments your dish that way can have pairings and sample tastings with each dish.We may also have a somellier here to talk about them.

RSVP's open Jan 21 at 12PM

The fine print:

Please pick out what you would like to cook and confirm that you can make this event on the night of February 4. Let us know which dish you want to cook in your RSVP so we can avoid any repeats. Each cook may bring one non-cook to enjoy the meal!

Cancellations: Please be 100% committed to attending this event, and cancel 48 hours in  advance. There is limited space and each member puts in a lot of time, effort, and planning into each of these events. Late cancellations affect the group as a whole. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, or are a no show you could be removed from the group.

I will be making octopuses in a blanket, and some fishbowl cocktail. I might also make conch shells and cheese depending on how many other non-seafood dishes there are. Does anyone already have a game of go fish? If not, I might pick that up and bring it for fun :)

I will be making baby octopus with blacked vegetables and orzo with an infused garlic oil. Possibly a craw fish pie or a cold conch salad with apple cider vinegar and celery.

As the host I want you to know that you are welcome to use my kitchen for what ever you need. I also have serving dishes and carafes and things like that if you need them. Either let me know what type of serving dish you may need ahead of time or we can figure it out when you get here.
If a Non-cook wouldn't mind bringing little plates that would be great. It will make the clean up easier and we will be using a lot of little plates.

I'm making an arctic char gravlax with white grapefruit -- it's not exactly Spanish, but it is a small plate. I'll also bring som kind of alcohol -- probably a white sangria.
