Ugh, I randomly took ill this afternoon. I was looking forward to seeing everyone tonight too! Would Margaux, Marion and Andrew feel comfortable forwarding their emails so I can send them my notes?

Since I'm new to the group, and don't have anyone's email address, I just posted my line edits in Files. (Comments as I read for tomorrow's presenters.) Obviously they can be deleted as soon as the authors download them. I have a PC; please let me know if anyone has format issues with what I uploaded.

Thanks, Holly. If you want to privately email someone in the future, you can click on their name. That will take you to their profile page, and there will be a little "email" link next to their name.

Thanks but, though I knew about all that, there's no way to attach a file (that I know of) when you email someone through Meetup.

Since there are 9 people signed up for this, I'd like to ask anyone who can to show up early--closer to 6:30 than 7:00--to help me hold down a big table. You can consume delicious food & tea while you wait!

I can be there at 6:30

Apologies Andrew. I see (now that I have read) that the list IS the something else : )

Andrew - Is your file a "list" or is there something else to it that somehow doesn't appear for me?

    January 13, 2014

  • Marion

Okay, I'll move over to the save side.

Thanks Kara. Any idea if it's the underscore, the period or numbers that trips things up? If others have problems I should rename it and repost it. I send files with all sorts of symbols to clients and never have an issue but for some reason I do here.

It's the period--what follows is usually indicative of the file type. Some computers have no problem figuring it out, but it's usually best not to name files with a period to be on the safe side.

It IS a word doc. What does it show up as?

It just misreads part of your filename as the extension, but it's an easy enough fix

Just so everyone knows, all the files for Wednesday are now in the files section. See you soon!

Sorry to be a pain, but I can't open Marion's piece. Could it possibly be posted as .doc, .docx, or at least .pdf?

I had the same problem. In the file name just erase everything after the period and replace it with .doc or .docx and it should work

Thanks, Kara! (I kind of had to "finesse" that tactic, on my ancient laptop, but it did eventually work.)

Happy new year, everyone! I'm away in India all of this month so sadly no meet ups for me. Just wanted to drop the link to a story of mine that appeared in Everyday Genius: http://www.everyday-genius.com/2013/12/aurvi-sharma.html

Hope you guys enjoy reading it. See y'all next month -- hopefully the Arctic winds will abate by then :) Stay warm XX

Sorry it's been forever since I've been to one of these! I had some complications while moving and couldn't make it out until now, but I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Also, congrats to Joachim and Aurvi for your publications! I'm looking forward to reading them. :)
