I will arrive by 7pm to set up the room. I would like to start the class as close to 7:15 as possible and must end by 9:15 to fold the tables and chairs. This time should be better for those who drive and need street parking, as non-commercial vehicles can park on the street from 7pm.
Even though the Ripley-Grier main desk is on the 16th floor, which is the location of most of their classrooms, they also have some rooms on the 10th floor. I will be in room 10E. If you want to go the Ripley-Grier main desk or to go to Butch's Cafe Oasis for food, you have to take the elevators to your right to get to the 16th Floor. In order to get to room 10E, you have to take the elevators to your left.
The first half of the class is dedicated to a discussion of Strength and The Hermit in the Major Arcana. In this part, your own input is as important as mine. I want to know what you see in the cards. I will mention some Kabbalah, but only so far as what information I believe will add to your own understanding of the cards. As this will be the last card study class of the year, I think it is appropriate to end with The Hermit. This card is often about goal attainment, which is often an end-of-the-year focus for many people.
The second half of the class will entail hands-on reading practice. Please bring back to class any handouts from previous classes, especially the handouts dealing with 3- and 5-card Tarot readings. If you don't have these handouts or have misplaced them, you can download them from the group "Files" section under the "More" tab. Make sure you are logged into Meetup or the "Files" section will appear empty.
I am requiring payment in advance if you want to RSVP. Please send me an email if you want to attend but have a reason not to RSVP in advance. Make sure you tell me your member ID in the email, as sometimes it is difficult to recognize students just from their email addresses. As in previous classes, payment is $17 in advance and $20 at the door.
