KAP at Governors Island, Saturday June 14, 2014 @ 11:30am

KAP at Governors Island in June

We will meet at the South end of the Parade Grounds between 11:30am and 12:00pm. The first two ferries from either Manhattan and Brooklyn are free and it is free coming back.

Note: there is high helicopter traffic, but if we fly within the perimeter of the island and stay less then 500' high we should have no problems.

Bring plenty of water and food concession stands are limited, but are available.

What: KAP at Governors Island

Go to Brooklyn Bridge Park

Pier 6 is were you will pick up the ferry which is at the South end of the park.

I will be taking the 11am and/or 11:30am, get there early these ferry's get packed.

If you go to Brooklyn by car your best bet for parking is garage. I suggest Kwik Park garage at 55 Washington St, Brooklyn, NY it will cost $24 for the day and a 15min walk to pier 6.

Pat and I had a great time, wonderful weather and wind. The Jazz Festival was also the same day! I also got a great deal for a 74" kite.

I had a great time seeing KAPers doing what they do first hand. Maybe next time I'll have my own kite to fly.

KAP was great! I bought a 73" wide delta at the Governors Island gift shop for a fanatastic price and flew it today. Also able to photograph guests at Jazz Lawn Party.
