Community intro/show and tell

Initial meeting for the NYC Laravel community to get together, celebrate the launch of Laravel 4, enjoy a couple of cold drinks and discuss what people want from the meetup (skill level, topics, format, etc). After the initial discussion, we'll open the floor for a show and tell - if you're working on an interesting Laravel app, show us what you're working on!

Hey guys! Can't wait to get together at the next meetup! I was hoping to find a PHP Developer for the company I work for. If anyone is interested in a full time job with great benefits, please reach out to me! See you all soon!

For Justen and anyone else that needs it, here's the link I mentioned at the meetup for a great tutorial on how to install mcrypt for your local php version, which Laravel needs to run properly. It's pretty straightforward to follow: http://www.coolestguyplanettech.com/how-to-install-mcrypt-for-php-on-mac-osx-lion-10-7-development-server/

This is specifically for Mac OSX, but if you know your way around the Win Command Prompt, you might be able to at least guide yourself with this...

    Hope it helps!

Hey everyone, I posted this in discussions, but it doesn't seem like there's much traffic over there yet, so I thought I'd put it here too. We're looking for a freelance developer with PHP/Laravel experience (and HTML, CSS, and JS) to help us get a new feature live on www.DateNight.is. If you're interested, or know someone who is, give at shout (danny AT datenight DOT is). Thanks! And we're looking forward to meeting everyone on the 1st.

Heads up that if anyone wants to be sporting an official Laravel 4 t-shirt for the meetup, they're only available for another 2 days: http://teespring.com/laravel-redux

If we need any funds let me know and UserScape will kick in a few bucks.

Thanks Ian! The space is free so the only expense is catering, if we get a ton of people then I may take you up on the offer...

Pyro will chip in a little too, but we will ONLY pay for beer. None of this "food" stuff.
