Forty North Oyster Farm Visit

Hello Oyster Lovers,

I am so excited to announce a visit to Forty North Oyster Farm in Mantoloking, NJ! Named after the latitude of the location, the farm is relatively young but produces fantastic oysters. I've been in touch with bayman Matt Gregg for a while now, and after the devastating damages dealt by Hurricane Sandy, their rebound and success has been truly remarkable. They're eager to host us for a farm tour and boat ride, to show us how oysters are cultivated from tiny spat to raw bar beauties. We'll also do some tasting and grilling afterwards at the boatyard.

I've reserved a van to transport us to the farm, and we'll meet at 10:30 am on Saturday, Oct. 12th at CC Car Rental (430 W. 37th St, b/w 9th & 10th Ave) to set out on our journey. The drive will take about 90 minutes.

This field trip will be $66.50, including transportation. If you'd like to use PayPal instead of Amazon Payments, just send me an email. Our group is capped at 12, so if you're interested in joining the fun, sign up today before we're out of space! Note: refunds will not be issued for this event, so please be confident that you can make it.

See you there!

Yet, another fun experience!!! What a great day with a really great group. Crystal, you are fantastic and it was so nice of you to have organized the tour of the oyster farm. The scenery was beautiful and taking the boat out in the bay to see the oyster farm was exciting. I am certain I ate the perfect oyster. Hope to see everyone again on another excellent Oyster Lovers adventure.

Great Meetup adventure! The weather really made the experience terrific. Loved the oyster picnic and the CRAB CRACK!!! As well as getting to see the farm itself... and the osprey nests... and the random duck blind. Fun group too! Can't wait to download my photos and share with all. In the meantime, some have been posted to Instagram (@inahalfshellblog).

Did NOT get original notification (obviously not on the right list somewhere!), and missed the spot opening! :( Am sorry to miss this. Please let me know if another spot opens also!

Waaaah! I can't join because I volunteered to organize a bicycle ride that same day for a non-profit. Someone please come and take my spot. I have very, very fond memories of the last oyster farm day trip through this group. Cool salty ocean breezes. Fresh, sweet oysters tasting of minerals. Good stories from an accidental fall out of a kayak. This one will surely be great also.

This will be my first meetup with the group and I am looking forward to meeting you guys. I just moved here from Georgia, so get ready for a southern accent!
