Hey Oyster Lovers!

Get psyched for an awesome oyster event in August (but you MUST act NOW--tickets are rapidly selling out). There's big oyster festival happening at Studio Square in Long Island City on Sunday, August 14th from 1-6PM.

For $50, you get all you can eat and drink oysters and beer! Actually, the full menu is much more extensive.

IMPORTANT: RSVP'ing on Meetup does NOT guarantee you a ticket. You MUST purchase your own, using the website: http://shellshocked.eventbrite.com

The Meetup unfortunately will not be able to hold tickets for this event... so to ensure that you get a ticket, purchase them online RIGHT. NOW. I'm serious--two weeks ago, they started out with 1500. Yesterday (Thursday, July 28) there were 300 left. Today (Friday, July 29) there's 130-something. I predict that this event will sell out before the weekend is up!

It was my first event and I was really disappointed with how poorly organized it was. Def not a fault of Meetup group but the actual event organizers. Read review of actual event for details.

Was poorly organized for the giant amount of tickets sold. We certainly took the bad weather into account, but there were 2 servers handing out oysters for an enormous crowd. That's not a weather issue, that's poor staffing. We arrived at 12:45pm, waited in line for 40 minutes, then in another line for 40 minutes - to eat 4 clams and 4 oysters. So completely fed-up and un-fed, we left. NEVER AGAIN.

Unfortunately this event was a bust. It was oversold and we weren't able to enjoy any of the food, drinks, and (due to weather) venue. Meeting up with members was difficult due to the overwhelming nature of the lines. Lesson learned for next time-- no more trying to latch Meetups on to large public events that we have no control over.

No stars. Could not get near the food cause the lines were over 2 hours long. Did not see any passaround food either. Before we got there several of the other meetup members had left, also without food. A venue should be responsible for overselling an event, but obviously they did not care. As far as I am concerned, I paid $100 for my wife and I to drive through traffic in the pouring rain to have a "free" drink. Will not attend another large event as it is evident that you have no control over them.

the line was too long and crowded! I think it's better to sit in a restaurant in a relaxed setting..

I failed in reading the full invite and only RSVPed. If there is anyone that has purchased a ticket and can't attend, please let me know and I will buy it from you
