Hello Oyster Lovers,
This isn't a formal Meetup event, but I wanted to give everyone a head's up on the City Grit "Ode to the Oyster" dinner taking place on Friday, March 9th. Chef David Santos (formerly of Hotel Griffou) will be presenting an oyster-themed menu that pays homage to the oyster's unique role in NYC history. The description is as follows:
Before bagels, pizza, pretzels and hot dogs were established as quintessential NYC foods, there was the humble oyster. When Henry Hudson first sailed the river that would one day bear his name, Native Americans had long been plucking its oyster beds. Chef Santos will be paying homage to New York City Oyster Houses and the culinary history they possess. Imagine a menu filled with raw, fried, pickled and stewed oysters--he even managed to put some “oysters” in the dessert! When: Friday, March 9th at 7:30pm Where: 38 Prince (between Mott and Mulberry) Price: $55 for a multi-course meal. A selection of wines will be available for purchase.
